Start and Finish location: the Old Wardensville High School

Course: The course will be run entirely in the Wardensville Township on pavement and sidewalk surfaces.

Looking for a fun, event local to Hardy County? This run is for you! Whether a runner or walker, the WSFA 5K and 10K Run is for all who want to add a bit of fun to their weekend.

This run is helping kick off the Hardy County, West Virginia Heritage Weekend September 26-28, 2014. For more family fun information go to www.heritageweekend.com.

Proceeds from this event will go towards The Wardensville Scholarship Fund Association (WFSA), a tax-exempt organization, providing scholastic financial assistance to graduates of East Hardy High School in Baker, West Virginia. All graduating Seniors are eligible to apply for support.

The Inspiration for the Run

Wardensville 10kArthur W. Halterman was a retired school teacher of Hardy County Schools and a farmer. He was a charter member of Baker Run Conservation Society, President of Wardensville Scholarship Fund Association, President of Baker Ruritan, a member of Salem Mennonite Church, Farm Bureau, Hardy County Park Commission, WV Poultry Association, WV Cattle Association, Gideons International, and Sons of Confederacy.  He had received many awards including, Hardy County Conservation Farmer 1993, Environmental Stewardship 2000, 2001, 2002, Pilgrims Pride Environmental Excellence Award 2003, Potomac Valley Conservation Teacher of the Year 2003, “My Proudest Accomplishment” WV Primary Environmental Association Environmental Award Winner 2006 and US Egg & Poultry Farm Environmental Award for the Mid Atlantic Region 2008.
